Import your YouTube watch history
Bring years of YouTube into Fan Town in about fifteen minutes. You'll see the channels you've watched most, and you can rate them and log your favourite videos with the dates you watched them.
Join Fan Town to import-
Open Google Takeout
Go to takeout.google.com and sign in with the Google account you use for YouTube. That link starts you with only YouTube selected. If you land on the full list, click Deselect all, then tick YouTube and YouTube Music.
-
Choose just your history
Under YouTube and YouTube Music, click All YouTube data included. Click Deselect all, tick only history, and click OK. Leaving out videos and playlists keeps the download small.
-
Switch history to JSON (recommended)
Click Multiple formats, find History, change it from HTML to JSON, and click OK. JSON imports faster and filters out ads more reliably. If you skip this step, the HTML file works too.
-
Create the export
Click Next step, keep Send download link via email, Export once and .zip, then click Create export. Google emails you when it's ready. For most people that takes a few minutes, though it can take longer.
-
Find the file
Download the zip from Google's email and open it. Inside, go to
Takeout→YouTube and YouTube Music→history. The file you want iswatch-history.json, orwatch-history.html. -
Upload it to Fan Town
Upload that one file on your watch history page. You'll see the channels you watch most, and you can rate them, log videos with the date you watched them, or add channels that aren't on Fan Town yet.
What happens to your history
Your imported history is private. Nobody else sees it, and nothing is posted to your profile until you choose to log or rate something. We delete the file as soon as it's read. You can delete the imported history at any time from the same page. YouTube doesn't let apps read watch history directly, which is why this takes a download from Google. See the privacy policy.
